“Dulce Rosa” en el Teatro El Sodre – Uruguay 2018 con Dirección Escénica del Tenor y Reggiseur Rubén Darío Martínez

Luego de su debut mundial en Los Angeles Ópera en 2013, bajo la dirección musical de Plácido Domingo, «Dulce Rosa» llega al Auditorio Nacional protagonizada -al igual que en su debut- por la soprano uruguaya María Eugenia Antúnez.

Basada en el cuento de Isabel Allende Una Venganza, Dulce Rosa es la historia de Rosa, la hija de un político prominente quien es capturado durante una revuelta. Rosa escapa y durante años planifica su venganza contra Tadeo, el líder guerrillero responsable de la muerte de su padre.
Pero cuando sus caminos finalmente se cruzan descubren que su obsesión es mutua y se ha transformado en algo más profundo.

Es la primera obra de ésta autora en ser versionada en formato operístico. Ésta será la segunda vez en representarse a nivel mundial y la primera en español.

El libretista Richard Sparks y el compositor Lee Holdridge (ganador de varios premios Grammy y Emmys) han trabajado juntos durante más dos décadas como socios profesionales y han realizado otros cinco trabajos anteriores encargados por L.A. Opera. Luego de leer el relato “Una venganza” rápidamente vieron el potencial de convertir la historia en una ópera. Sparks visualizó la historia como una tragedia griega moderna, donde el destino conspira contra sus protagonistas. Contactaron a la autora y durante años trabajaron en el guión, la letra y la música y lograron que Plácido Domingo la dirigiera.
