Rubén Martínez dirigirá a Paula Almerares en las puestas de “Suor Angelica” e “I Pagliacci” que abrirán la temporada en el teatro El Círculo

El tenor y regisseur Rubén Martínez y la soprano Paula Almerares son los artistas platenses que encabezan los títulos de las puestas de “Suor Angelica” de Puccini e “I Pagliacci” de Leoncavallo, que abrirán la temporada lírica en el teatro El Círculo de Rosario.
Ambientada en el siglo XVII, en “Suor Angélica” el personaje principal es Angelica, una mujer nacida en una familia principesca que en su juventud tuvo un desliz del que nació un niño. La familia, y sobre todo la tía de la muchacha, profundamente humillada por esta “mancha” en su reputación, decide encerrarla en un convento, privándola de todo contacto con el exterior, y criar al niño sin su madre.
“Se trata de una ópera que está concebida desde la belleza musical y la belleza vocal en la cual Puccini pone toda su experiencia y énfasis teniendo en cuenta que su hermana Iginia era abadesa del Convento en Vicopelago, el cual visitó durante la composición de la ópera. Esa característica musical y vocal estará representada en la escenografía -a cargo de Jorge A. Fernández, recientemente fallecido- pero desde otro lugar: en vez de dar oscuridad y clausura, damos libertad de espíritu porque considero que la oscuridad, el encierro, la clausura y las cadenas están en la mente del hombre pero no en su alma: ‘su espíritu es libre’”, manifestó Rubén Martínez.
Opera en un acto, sobre un libreto de Giovacchino Forzano, “Sour Angelica” es una de las pocas que sólo tiene intérpretes femeninas -Paula Almerares, Anabella Carnevali, Valentina Vanola, Graciela Mozzoni-. Por su breve duración, generalmente se ha presentado junto a una ópera verista no muy extensa, como lo es “I Pagliacci”.
Protagonizada por el tenor Enrique Folger, y secundado por Paula Almerares, Leonardo López Linares, Andrés Novero/Daniel Gómez López e Ismael Barrile, la ópera en dos actos que Ruggero Leoncavallo escribió sobre un hecho acaecido en su adolescencia, en Montalto di Calabria, en donde su padre enjuició a un actor que había asesinado a su esposa, se estrenó en mayo de 1892 en el teatro del Verme de Milán.
En relación al sello personal que imprimió en la puesta de esta ópera, Martínez aseguró que su intención fue “volver al origen de los sentimientos básicos del hombre, de amor, odio, celos, posesión, traición, venganza, caridad, tiranía; sentimientos que si los dejamos librados a su suerte o a su libertad original salvaje, traen consigo en el hombre la violencia. Y esta ópera nos enseña que si nos dejamos llevar por estos sentimientos sin razonar, todo termina en la destrucción del propio ser humano”.

Con la participación del Coro de la Opera de Rosario y Orquesta Sinfónica de la Provincia de Rosario, ambas puestas cuentan con la dirección musical del maestro Carlos Vieu, y tendrán funciones el 9 y 11 de abril en la sala ubicada en Laprida 1223.
Martínez, por último, manifestó sus deseos de poder presentar estas puestas en la Ciudad, específicamente, en el Argentino. “Lógicamente que, como artistas platenses, nos encantaría que el Teatro nos invite a poner en escena estas óperas en coproducción con el Teatro de Rosario. Ya está todo hecho, sólo hace falta dialogar”, concluyó.
